Ramil Baratang, M.D.

Dr. Ramil Baratang joined Cedar Crest Clinic in 2005.

Dr. Baratang has a special interest in ADHD, pervasive developmental disorders/autism spectrum disorders, mental retardation, and psychopharmacology in children.

Dr. Lynn Warthan joined Cedar Crest Clinic in 2003.

Dr. Warthan cares for the medical needs of children and adolescents in our inpatient programs in Belton.

Dr. Scot Engel joined Cedar Crest Clinic in 2004.

Dr. Engel has a special interest in treating children and adolescents with oppositional and defiant behavior. He is currently developing a highly structured inpatient program, focusing on helping defiant adolescent boys build respect and develop a new direction in life.

 

 

 

 

 

Christine Simon, MS, LPC, LPA

Christine Simon joined Cedar Crest Clinic in 2004.

Practicum:Child/Adolescent Psychiatry and Evaluation Service, Fort Hood, Texas, 2001

 

Christine has a particular interest in helping the military child. She served 16 years in the U.S. Army as a military intelligence analyst, including three overseas tours. She knows first-hand what special circumstances military children face.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brent Wheeler, MA, LPC, LSSP

Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

 

 

Brent Wheeler joined Cedar Crest Clinic in 2003.

Brent has a special interest in treating patients with traumatic brain injury. He is also a school psychologist, with experience in special education evaluations, ARDs, and crisis intervention with troubled students.

 

 

 

 

Paul T. Herndon, MD
Child/Adolescent  General Psychiatry

 

Dr. Herndon recently joined our team at BCA. Dr Herndon completed undergraduate work  from both Texas A&M University and the University of Texas-Permian Basin. Dr. Herndon attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He then completed his residency in psychiatry at West Virginia University and a Child/Adolescent fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center.

 

Dr. Herndon has experience in outpatient clinical practice, intense in-patient care, residential treatment, and served as the medical director for the NeuroAssessment Centre, in Monument, Colorado.

 

Dr. Herndon currently resides in Midland, Texas.

 

 

 

 

Taghi Shafie, M.D.
Psychiatrist

 

Dr. Taghi Shafie received his medical degree in 1973 from the University of
Isfahan, Iran, followed by completion of a one-year psychiatry residency through
the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and a second year
of residency in neurology through Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After
28 years of professional experience in Houston, he has joined Cedar Crest Clinic
in Killeen, Texas, to provide outpatient services to the Central Texas community.

 

 

 

 

Kerri Tom, Psy.D.
Psychologist

 

Dr. Kerri Tom joined Cedar Crest in 2008. She graduated from McMaster
University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
She also attended Roosevelt University in Chicago, where she completed her
Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. After moving to Texas, she attended the
Texas School of Professional Psychology in Dallas, where she completed her
Doctorate of Psychology. Dr. Tom completed her internship at Central
Washington University in Washington state. She enjoys working with adolescent
populations and began doing so in 1998.

 

Dr. Tom resides in Waxahachie with her husband. She enjoys the outdoors, gardening, arts and crafts, and volunteering as a mentor for incarcerated adolescents.
